Transfer Seminar

How does your submission show your achievement of ICSM learning outcomes?

Please explain how the artifact(s) you submitted show(s) your ability to: a) develop and evaluate ideas and arguments and b) identify and articulate assumptions that underlie an idea, argument, or creative work.

1. Develop and evaluate ideas and arguments; and

In my Ithaca Seminar Course, I was tasked with two major assignments. The first assignment in which I felt I developed and evaluated ideas and arguments is in the artifact labeled Transfer Seminar Reflection. This artifact displays my ability to evaluate my own ideas based on my degree, as well as understand and compare with other transfer students, why I and they wanted to transfer to Ithaca College.

2. Identify and articulate assumptions that underlie an idea, argument, or creative work.

The second assignment that we were asked to complete was defining what liberal arts is and taking a stance to argue whether or not it is advantageous or not to have a liberal arts degree. Therefore, the artifact that I have uploaded that identifies and articulates assumptions that underlie an idea and argument is in the document titled Liberal Arts Education Reflection. I took the stance in which I agreed and thought that having a liberal arts degree was advantageous because it allows a person to become more knowledgeable when they finish their college degree, they are not just aware of specifically what is occurring in science, but ways to articulate such ideas with English, and learning why historical events occurred and the way they did.
